Boddhobhumi '71 is one of the most important places in Sreemangal. It's a memorial to the people killed here in the 1971 Liberation War. You may have walked past it. But do you know what happened on that ground?
I wanted people my age to know. So in 2021 I started a four-part YouTube series on its history.
I finished three episodes that year. Then family problems and my own health stopped me, and the last episode just sat there, unfinished. I'll be honest with you: for a while I wasn't sure I'd come back to it.
But a story like this deserves an ending. In 2023, two years later, I picked it up again. With help from journalist Bikul Chakraborty, photographer Prince Nath Gourab and the BGB Sreemangal Sector, I finished the fourth and final episode and put it on YouTube.
I make these videos alongside my studies, and the goal has always been the same: to show my home town, Sreemangal, to the whole world, one story at a time.
“Al Ikram Noyon is a young man of many talents. Beyond Boddhobhumi '71, he has brought the history of the Tripura Maharaja's Kachari Bari in Sreemangal and Madhabpur Lake in Kamalganj to the younger generation, and he has many more plans for his homeland.”
If you start something that matters, it's worth finishing, even when it takes longer than you planned.
